Tuesday Prayer for a Tender Conscience

Lord grant me a conscience more tender
More fully informed by your Word
Increasingly, easily wounded
By Your Spirit perpetually stirred

Forbid that I flee from exposure
The light of your countenance grants
To hide in my vile self-deception
And secretly let sin advance

Convict in your faithful perfecting
Till Christ’s is the image I bear
And all of sin’s foul corruption
Is purged by your tenderest care

Create an unbearable longing
From sin’s every vestige to flee
To war with divine inspiration
Each moment, ’til Jesus I see
