To be Satisfied in Christ Jesus

Oh fill me Father, fill me
With Heaven’s honied store,
The riches and the richness
Of Christ my treasured Lord

Oh fill me Father, fill me
Make Christ my all in all
Make sin to lose its sweetness
Its dainties turn to gall

Oh fill me Father, fill me
That satisfied in him
I’m left no other hunger
No ling’ring tase for sin

Oh fill me Father, fill me
I pray your Spirit’s light
The glories of my Jesus
To flood my sin dimmed sight

  1. Reid, you did it again! Keep ’em coming! I don’t have track of how many you have so far, but I foresee a volume published in the future with your poems/hymns.

Editorial remark: “tase” has a missing letter “t” (last line, 3rd verse).

Metrical information for musical accompaniment and singing: 7.6.7.6.

I have so far been unable to locate a hymn that exactly matches this meter, but here are ten familiar hymn tunes that are possibilities for singing your verses. Caveat: This will only work if two of your verses are sung as one since the meter of these hymn tunes differs as 7.6.7.6.D.:

Angel’s Story (“O Jesus, I Have Promised”); Aurelia (“The Church’s One Foundation”); Lancashire (“Lead On, O King Eternal,” and “The Day of Resurrection”); Llanfair (“Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain”); Mendebras (“O Day of Rest and Gladness”); Passion Chorale (“O Sacred Head, Now Wounded”); St. Christopher (“Beneath the Cross of Jesus”); St. Theodulph (“All Glory, Laud and Honor”); Webb (“Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus”); and Wir Pflügen (“We Plow the Fields and Scatter”).
