What if I told you that the answer to sin is that we just don’t eat enough? Would that pique your interest? It ought to. Because that in fact IS the answer. Weight Watchers knows it. God knows it. The Bible teaches it. And our emaciated little souls are craving it. We just need to start believing it. And eating ourselves into Godliness.

Many of our attempts at crucifying the flesh, are in fact nothing more than suicide. Trying to kill ourselves. But crucifying the flesh isn’t suicide. 1st, because no one can nail themselves to a cross, it isn’t a suicidal kind of death. The key to crucifying the flesh is in refusing to rely upon it for anything. Even for obedience. Because the flesh is all about self – self has to be out of the picture. If you want to crucify the flesh, quit trying to use it to make spiritual progress – quit gritting your teeth to try and produce righteousness. Look to Him. He is MADE unto us righteousness. It comes from Christ via the Spirit, by faith; not by blood, sweat and tears.

At present on the American scene we are dominated by Covenant theology (Reformed Theology), Dispensational Theology and New Covenant Theology. Globally and in the past we’ve lived through Liberation Theology, Feminist Theology, Natural Theology – the list is endless. So why add one more? Just because I can? No sir. Because each one of these, from the most coherent, Biblical and sound, to the most ridiculous, insidious and dangerous – share one common trait: They do not start with “Theos” but with something else. And the something else is the defining factor – NOT, the “Theos”. Theology, must, if it is going to be thoroughly Biblical and sound, must start with God, not the grid through which we interpret God and His Word. Theo-Theology is what I am proposing.

I received a letter from a friend to day, grieving over the loss of a dear friend. I thought maybe someone else might benefit from reading a bit of our exchange.
They questioned whether or not they ought to feel such grief. Which raised a question over Jesus weeping at the tomb of Lazarus.
