Yeah, its dated. But the book continues to sell and spawn ancillary “products”. Maybe a look back is worth it. Besides, it was still in my files. Waste not, want not!
It raises some of the perennial problems we have in Evangelicalism both in terms of superstitious approaches to Christianinty, as well as prayer itself. Hopefully, I’ll blog on both sometime in the relatively near future. But for now – Heeeeer’s Bruce!

No, this isn’t about being a stand-up comedian in the pulpit – it is a short essay on how ridicule cannot only be proper in preaching at times – but downright necessary.
As well as the cautions that ought to go with it.

Scott Ferguson, in his excellent comment on the original “Older than Dirt” raised a question that was resurrected by a friend of mine, Brad Hansen. I was hoping to find time to go back and address what Scott said when I HAD time. Then Brad sent me some pages from Hugh Ross’s books, “Creation in Time” and it forced my hand. In that book, Ross addresses the “False Age Theory” first penned by Philip Gosse, a British biologist and preacher. Ross raises some objections to the view that might be worth walking through.
Brad and I have bounced the creation theories around for a couple of years now – and he always adds interesting things to consider. Makes for good discussion.

I’ve posted various book reviews on our Church web site – http://www.ecfnet.org But thought it might be good for conversation to repeat them here as well.
Enjoy.
