  • Redux in a row

    November 28th, 2005

“Science rules out the most cartoonish versions of God by debunking specific claims about ancient civilizations in North America or the creation ex nihilo of human life.” Daniel Gilbert.

Really? Science rules out the creation ex nihilo of human life? What would Hugh Ross think of that?

  • CHRIST THE LORD – OUT OF EGYPT

    November 28th, 2005

    BK-ChristTheLord.jpg

You cannot possibly read this book and find out more about Jesus. You can only know more about what Anne Rice thinks Jesus said thought and did when He was 7 years old. Dreamers and self-styled mystics will have a hay-day with it. Don’t you be one of them.

  • Older Than Dirt Redux

    November 25th, 2005

    globe.jpg

Scott Ferguson, in his excellent comment on the original “Older than Dirt” raised a question that was resurrected by a friend of mine, Brad Hansen. I was hoping to find time to go back and address what Scott said when I HAD time. Then Brad sent me some pages from Hugh Ross’s books, “Creation in Time” and it forced my hand. In that book, Ross addresses the “False Age Theory” first penned by Philip Gosse, a British biologist and preacher. Ross raises some objections to the view that might be worth walking through.

Brad and I have bounced the creation theories around for a couple of years now – and he always adds interesting things to consider. Makes for good discussion.

  • FRUCTIFIED – Part 4 / How do you like THEM apples?

    November 12th, 2005

    fruit_logo.gif

What if I told you that the answer to sin is that we just don’t eat enough? Would that pique your interest? It ought to. Because that in fact IS the answer. Weight Watchers knows it. God knows it. The Bible teaches it. And our emaciated little souls are craving it. We just need to start believing it. And eating ourselves into Godliness.

  • FRUCTIFIED – Part 3 / Crucifying the flesh isn’t suicide.

    November 11th, 2005

    fruit_logo.gif

Many of our attempts at crucifying the flesh, are in fact nothing more than suicide. Trying to kill ourselves. But crucifying the flesh isn’t suicide. 1st, because no one can nail themselves to a cross, it isn’t a suicidal kind of death. The key to crucifying the flesh is in refusing to rely upon it for anything. Even for obedience. Because the flesh is all about self – self has to be out of the picture. If you want to crucify the flesh, quit trying to use it to make spiritual progress – quit gritting your teeth to try and produce righteousness. Look to Him. He is MADE unto us righteousness. It comes from Christ via the Spirit, by faith; not by blood, sweat and tears.
